Weekend Update - Lasky soon!

Wow - can it really be less than two weeks until the Lasky Arts Retreat?  I can't wait!

Here are a few other things to check out in the mean time:

The Milwaukee Art Museum is super cool and is our first stop on Friday morning, after breakfast and a little intro. at the synagogue.  If you've never been to the museum, it's way cool, and it looks like this:

How cool is that?  Click here for a link to their website to preview what they have going on there.

Then, go check out the web site of our guest artist, Barry Goldstein.  He's amazingly talented and has many great ideas in store for us!

Lastly, if you need a copy of the Lasky registration form you can click here to download / print it out!

As usual, let me know if you have any questions!  Click here to e-mail me!

Final Musaf rehearsal!

Hey hey! I hope your 10 days are providing you good time for thought and introspection.  What better way could there be to top it off than with your participation in the Musaf service?
What is it?
It's the afternoon service for Yom Kippur, run by the youth group for the entire congregation.
How can you participate?  Join us Monday night for our final rehearsal, even if you haven't been there for one yet!  We'll eat dinner together then run through the service - musicians, singers, writers, artists, and readers.
We'd love to have you there!
Let me know if you have any questions!

Movie Night!

Join us this week for a special screening of Refuge: Stories of the Selfhelp Home.  This powerful film will be at our synagogue this Wednesday, September 5th, at 7:00.  (See below for more information about the film)

The North Shore Seminar, the 11th and 12th grade post-Confirmation class, meets once a month to discuss special topics.  This will be the first meeting this year of the North Shore Seminar and because of this special opportunity, we are opening it up to 9th and 10th graders as well.

We'll meet for dinner in the youth lounge at 6:30, then go see the film at 7:00.  After the one hour film, we'll stay for a discussion with some of the creators of the film, who just so happen to be members of NSCI!

Questions?  Contact Neil: neilrigler@gmail.com or 847-209-9673 or Facebook.

See you there!

a great day at Operation Backpack!

What a great day it was!  We arrived at the synagogue early this morning to set up for this year's Operation Backpack.  After getting all of the supplies ready and prepping a mountain of boxes, we were ready to help the families who volunteered.  Each group worked to pack all of the supplies for a classroom.  Then the boxes were labeled, sealed, and loaded onto a truck.  We all caravanned down to the Jordan Community School in the Rogers Park section of Chicago.  Despite the rain, we unloaded all of the supplies from the truck into the cafeteria, helping them to be ready for the start of school next week.

Then it was off to Portillo's for lunch - and nobody got lost this time!  Chocolate Cake shakes all around!  It was an excellent kickoff to the new TYG year with 4 people joining us for the first time.  See y'all soon for the preparation of the Musaf service!

Operation Backpack!

Greetings and Happy August!  We hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for an exciting TYG year!  Our first event is this Sunday as we join the synagogue in hosting Operation Backpack.  Donations of school supplies have been poring in, and now it's time to box them up and prepare them for the school year.  These supplies will go to students at the Jordan School in Chicago.  Join us starting at 9 a.m. to pack up the boxes and load them onto the truck for delivery.  Then - join us for the actual delivery!  We'll caravan down to the north side of the city and bring the boxes into the cafeteria.  After that, join us for lunch at Portillo's - our treat!  We'll get home around 2 p.m.  Need a ride?  We're happy to provide one!  Got any other questions?  Contact Neil at 847-209-9673 or neilrigler@gmail.com.  We hope to see you there!!
